The Reykjanes Peninsula is, for me, the most honest side of Iceland. Here, you can feel beneath your feet that the island is very much alive. I love photographing this raw energy , and I love how the light catches in the rising steam.
We’ll start our day at Kleifarvatn. The lake sits silently between dark mountains—a perfect spot for wide, atmospheric shots before we head to the mud pools of Gunnuhver. This is where Iceland shows its wild face: hot steam, the scent of sulfur, and a backdrop that feels almost extraterrestrial.
Our journey together:
Brimketill: On the rugged coast, we’ll watch the Atlantic crash with full force against the natural rock pools. It’s a place that makes you feel small—and that’s exactly the feeling I capture for you.
Fresh Lava: We’ll drive through Grindavík for a safe but breathtaking view of the brand-new lava fields. It’s fascinating to see land that has only just been created.
Optional: The Underworld: If you’re up for it, we can explore the Leiðarendi lava tunnel. I’ll provide all the gear. It’s tight and dark in places, but the feeling of standing inside an ancient lava flow is indescribable.
As with all my tours: we don’t rush. We stop when the light is right, and we take photos that show you experiencing these primal forces for the first time. Relaxed, natural, and real.
